At Sri Balaji University, Pune (SBUP), I got the chance to visit India Mobile Congress (IMC) with a team of 50 people. SBUP was the academic partner of India Mobile Congress 2022. In addition to being the largest tech event in Asia, the India Mobile Congress is also the largest networking event in the country’s IT industry. IMC features the largest technology exhibition in India and serves as the foundation for technological demonstrations with involvement from leaders from across the world.
India Mobile Congress (IMC) was one of the most talked-about telecom events of the year for learning and networking with the top players in the sector.
Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, inaugurated the ceremony with launch of 5G and he also visited Reliance Jio, Airtel, VI Telecom Service booths to take a look at what the technology companies have bought in. Apart from that Shri Narendra Modi was content to see how companies were focusing on Make in India initiative and developing and manufacturing the equipment for 5G technology indigenously in India. After that PM explored many other Virtual Reality technology, then, moved on to the stage and addressed the gathering and encouraged Indian start-ups to make great strides in technology. The event took place in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan from October 1 until October 4, 2022.
India-specific application cases of 5G, like TCS came up with robotic hand which can be seamlessly handled remotely from anywhere in the world with lowest latency using 5G network. A cow tracker and networked mobile ambulances, wherein, doctor can understand the status of patient on the way to hospital, where some of the other attractions at IMC. The application of 5G to practical issues like remote surgery could save lives. The live demonstration of online gaming, and a quick and reliable internet connection will be a game changer in cloud gaming. I have a fair amount of confidence that this market will grow once 5G services begin to roll out in India.
I was amazed to attend a major tech convention like IMC in person. I had face-to-face interaction with important business leaders and industry experts at IMC 2022. Also I could see and experience the new and upcoming technology in person, which made me realise how crucial it is to view tech products in person.
